One of my favorite songs is “Seasons of Love” from “Rent”.
The lyrics remind us to pay attention to what really counts.
The melody is uplifting.
And it’s a reminder that there are 525,600 minutes in a year.
I invite you to embrace a few of these life hacks and create space for events and days where there is more patience, kindness, love, and understanding in your world.
You have items on your daily to-do list.
Studies show that when there’s a time limit associated with a task, the chances of it getting done in the allotted time increases.
How do you know if you’ve reached your goal if you haven’t set one?
Accomplish what you set out to do and befriend the feeling of a timely success.
You’ve just created space, now fill it with something that feels good to your heart.
When was the last time you didn’t look at a screen for an entire day?
I try really hard to be screen-free on Sundays.
People know this about me and expectations for screen time on Sundays is reduced.
Pick your day. Put your blinders on.
I
It’s so freeing.
Memories of what life was like before online meetings and cell phones come flooding back.
Journal for five minutes. Go for a walk. Call a friend. Try a hobby and get lost in your creative act.
Feel refreshed when you return.
Remember, you’re in charge.
As we age, it’s so important to change our activity after 30 minutes.
Get up, move, look outside, get a glass of water, drink it so you have to get up for a bathroom break in another 30 minutes.
It’s warmer weather. Do you have a patio planter with a couple of vegetables or flowers potted up? Look for dead leaves, leggy branches that might need to be pinched back or stir up the soil with a spoon to increase aeration and reduce pesky bugs, mold or fungus.
Keep an eye on changes through the season.
Aren’t we glad things are green and lush?
We need to have our emotional first aid kit ready to deal with the harrowing and impactful news of late.
Senseless murders of innocent children and adults.
Sleep can be impacted.
Doom scrolling can eat up hours of our day.
Protect your heart.
Be in charge of the duration of your activities and body position.
Put your blinders on so you can reduce the overwhelm and repetitiveness of your daily routine.
Create your own parameters to get stuff done on time.
Enjoy the long days, greenness of nature, listen to some fun music, and make the most of each moment.
By the way, I am reaching one of my 2021 goals (six months late but who's counting?)-to become a published author!
I can't wait to share this new book with you! I'm in it, and it comes out on June 21! http://www.soulbizbook.com
