It’s a delicate balance ~
Visit but not too long ~
Be that extra pair of hands ~
Shop and make meals ~
Offer wisdom but not too much ~
How to help…
Keep showing up.
A dear friend and I say this to each other on a regular basis.
It’s what we do, now that our kids are grown.
Now that the next generation is joining us.
We stand in witness of their amazing life choices.
Showing up… It’s how we give back.
And forward to the next generation.
Henry is the sweetest bundle of joy.
He’s awake for about an hour during the day.
(What happens from 9pm-when we leave- and 9am-when we return to visit with Kelsey, Rich and Henry…
let’s just say they’re all figuring it out )
When he looks at me, I sense a knowing, that Henry is the wisest he’ll ever be
and will spend the rest of his life searching for that wisdom.
Wells and I are here for a few more days before we start our cross-country trip back to Montana.
It will be a sad drive out of Houston.
What an incredible gift this time has been.
I was honored to be present for Henry’s birth.
It’s a testament to the work Kelsey and I have dedicated to our relationship that I would be invited to experience her and Rich giving birth to our first grandchild.
How gracious of Rich as well-”We can’t do this without you!”
To witness a miracle…the beginning of life…
4-5 hours of real labor and 1-2 hours of pushing…
Kelsey was amazing.
Rich too.
And Henry (they liked the name) Shepard (from Shepard Hill in NH) Hultberg
came from “out of the everywhere into here.”
There are moments that will change your life.
What wisdom can I impart and how do I do it?
We stand in awe and amazement.
Watching Kelsey and Rich access love and understanding
For each other, and Henry…
What a blessing to witness
Devotion from our ancestors and
Wisdom for future generations
In real time.
We are loving Henry, the first member of the next generation of our family.
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
We’re all learning, with each passing moment, how to welcome Henry into our family,
the family that loves him more than words can express.
If you have grandparent-ly advice
(one friend suggested to buy a roll of duct tape and use it on myself,
metaphorically speaking of course, when I’m going to make suggestions!)...
I'm all ears.
Gigi love,
Kathy
